CIOTA Inaugurates Elejirin of Ejirinland, Others, Into Elders Forum.

The Chartered Institute of Transport Administration, CIOTA, has inaugurated the first-ever Forum of Elders for the institution, on the 12th of January, 2023 at the Best Western Hotel,
Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event marked a milestone in the history of the organization which began in 1981, was duly registered in 1986 and Chartered by Act in 2019.

According to the President of CIOTA, Prince Segun Obayendo, he said the inauguration of the Elders Forum is in line with the provisions of the Act which enables them to make rules in line with the vision of the institute. He said the creation of the Elders Forum will help the institution to have an internal organ of men and women of proven integrity and experience in the sector whom the NEC will consult from time to time in advisory capacity to deepen the corporate and professional governance of the institute.

In addition, he said the inauguration was an opportunity to pay homage to the founding fathers and past administrators of the institute for their dedication to nurture the institute to its current status, he further said the institute would harvest wisdom, guidance and tutelage from the elders to ensure the current administration achieves its mandates

MEMBERS OF THE FORUM

A total of 11 eminent personalities drawn from all walks of life within the institute were inaugurated into the forum. They include His Royal Majesty, Oba Rafiu Ishola Balogun, the Elejirin of Ejirinland, Professor Innocent Ogwude, Princess Mulikat Feyintola Sanni, Hajia Lami Tumaka, Mr Darlington Ofor, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Murnai, the WAKILIN KATSINA, Mr Matthew Akinlabi, Prince Godwin Don-Aki, Chief Cajetan Chukwuemeka Agu, Emmanuel Kizito Echieme, and Mr Dominic Obiajulu.

The chairman of the Elders Forum, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rafiu Ishola Balogun, appreciated the foresightedness of the President and his team to officially inaugurate the council.

He reiterated his commitment to the institute which he single-handedly started as the Institute of Transport Administration, IOTA, and managed its affairs for 10 years before handing over the reins of affairs to other administrators up to the immediate past president.

He extended the support of his fellow elders and pasted administrators to see to the success of the current administration and beyond.

He said the Elders Forum will use the powers conferred on it, among other needs, to address issues of conflict which has resulted in a court injunction for the institute.

Furthermore, he said the institute is not a stranger to conflicts but all have been settled internally and has made the institute grow stronger. He expressed optimism that the current conflicts would equally be resolved without an external influence.

RESOLUTION FROM INAUGURAL MEETING OF THE FORUM

The Forum had its inaugural meeting afterwards, where they resolve and advise that Mr. Nnamdi Eronini & co withdraw the suit it had filed against the institute and present their grievance to the forum for its intervention, they assured them of fair hearing and justice.

The Registrar of the institute, Mr. Rasheed Ayelabegan, on his part, extended the goodwill of the secretariat to ensure proper procedures and protocols are observed in the administration of the institute.

The inaugural event came to a close with vote of thanks by the Lagos State Chapter Chairman, Dr Taiwo Salami.
