CIOTA Holds Development Program to Enhance Professionalism
On Tuesday, August 31, 2021, the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA) will begin its mandatory professional development program.
President of CIoTA, Dr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh, said that the institute is set to professionalize all aspects of the transportation industry in Nigeria for sustainable development.
According to the CIoTA President, the Institute, being the sole professional body in the transport industry, is moving to ensure that all those involved in transport administration in Nigeria are certified to enhance professionalism.
A press statement issued by the Institute’s national publicity secretary, Mrs. Chizoba Anyika, said the virtual training, themed “Transport Management and Organization: Best Practices,” will feature four prominent Institute members as resource persons.
They are Professor Innocent Ogwude, the former Acting Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUTO) in Owerri, Professor Calistus Ibe, the Institute’s Chairman, Education and Training Committee, Professor Charles Asenime of the Lagos State University, School of Transport, Department of Transport Planning and Policy, and Dr. Obioma Reuben Nwaogbe, a marine transport and logistics expert from the Nigeria Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Warri.
“The standardized transport training is geared towards enhancing professionalism and will be executed by qualified resource persons who are long-standing prominent members of the Institute.”
“The training modules are designed to reflect current expectations in the industry as well as evolving development.” It is packed with sub-themes such as “Transport System Organization, Management, and Governance,” which will be handled by Professor Innocent Ogwude, while Professor Callistus Ibe will take up the topic of “Innovation Management and Technological Opportunities in the Transport Industry.”
“On the other hand, Professor Charles Asenime will handle Managing Employee and Labor Relations in the Transport Industry, and last but not least will be taken by Dr. Obioma Nwaogbe on the topic of Benchmarking, Performance Measurement, and Best Practices in Transport Organization,” Anyika said.
According to Anyika, the Institute has painstakingly selected the resource persons for the training so that members can stay ahead of the curve, gain superior knowledge for growth, and achieve greater success in their professional career development.
She said CIoTA holds the key to the sustainable development of all the modes in the transportation sector and is therefore focused on its mandate of ensuring that the workforce is executed by only professionals.
She urged all members and prospective members to take up the opportunity and enhance their competence, knowledge, and expertise in addition to honing their existing skills.
According to Anyika, all interested parties must register for the training fee of N5,000.
