CIOTA President Inspects State-of-the-Art Terminal at Lekki Free Port
Lagos, Nigeria – Prince Segun Obayendo, the President of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration (CIOTA), visited the Lekki Freeport Terminal to conduct an inspection of its cutting-edge facilities, set to play a pivotal role in enhancing the country’s trade and economic growth.
Accompanied by esteemed members of the institute, including Alhaji Jimba Ganiyu, Barr Osuala Nwagbara, Chief Chukwuemeka Agu, Mr. Mall Bello Tukur, Mrs. Abike Awojobi, Mr. Kelvin Olishe, and Mr. Ajayi Kolawole, Prince Segun Obayendo was warmly received by Mr Yann Magarian, the CEO of Lekki Free Port Terminal, and Mr. Fubura Awanta, the GM of Government Relations and Security.
The newly developed terminal has been meticulously designed to ensure efficient and secure handling of cargo, while also providing modern amenities that significantly enhance the customer experience.
Addressing the gathering, Prince Segun Obayendo expressed his congratulations to Mr. Magarian and hailed the terminal as a remarkable game changer. He stated, “I and my team are thrilled to be here today to inspect this impressive new terminal. We are confident that this development will position the state as a leading player in the global economy.” He also emphasized the value CIOTA brings through strategic partnerships, offering training, capacity building, and inclusive membership opportunities within the institute.
Mr. Magarian extended his gratitude to the CIOTA team for their visit, highlighting that the Lekki Free Port Terminal represents a substantial investment in the port’s infrastructure. He added that the terminal will enable them to better serve their customers and support the state’s growth, giving it a competitive edge over neighboring countries such as Cotonou, Ghana, and Ivory Coast.
Furthermore, Mr. Magarian highlighted that the entire operation is automated, delivering efficient and time-saving benefits to their customers. He also emphasized the port’s commitment to maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders and relevant agencies involved in port administration.
During their visit, the CIOTA team had the opportunity to inspect the port’s facilities and commended the management for establishing high standards of smart working practices.
The Lekki Freeport Terminal is a state-of-the-art deep-sea port strategically located at the heart of the Lagos Free Trade Zone in Lekki, with excellent connectivity to major transportation routes outside the state.
